“an Alan Jackson Tribute”
It’s been almost 20 years since I released anything original, but this one inspired me to get back into the studio.
On Mother’s Day weekend in 2025, I was with my family at an Airbnb just outside of Middleton, NS called “The Farm at Outram”. I woke up early and realized how peaceful life can be in a small town. No traffic whizzing by, no transit buses passing your house at 6:00 a.m. — just the silent beauty of a remote farmhouse property and the opportunity to truly reflect.
With the recent news of Alan Jackson becoming ill and announcing that he only has a few more shows left before hanging up his guitar, it made me realize just how much of an impact his music has had — not only on me personally, but on my generation as a whole.
It’s crazy how much writer’s block can take over when you’re surrounded by the everyday “noise” of the city. That morning, though, everything flowed so naturally. Before my family had even woken up for the day, the sunrise was shining through the windows of that little farmhouse dining room onto a page filled with emotion and lyrics inspired by Alan Jackson’s music.
I’ll forever be thankful for the music “AJ” created and how it became the soundtrack to so many memories growing up.
