CONNOR IAN MOORE

CONNOR’S STORY

Connor Ian Moore as he was originally born would also live under a few aliases throughout his life…Turkey Boy (to his Father Jamie), Bug-a-Boo (to his Mom Alison), Karizma (to the Leo Gang), and eventually he would land on “Moore Real Music” (as his Brand, Label and Movement)

On Aug 8th, 1995 a star was born and lit up the worlds of all of those around him. A son, a grandson, a nephew, a friend and eventually a big brother as well, Connor would bring energy to any room with his fun-loving personality, infectious smile and goofy laugh. In only 23 short years he managed to touch the lives of so many who had the privilege of getting to know him. It seemed like he could do anything well and if it fell into what he was passionate about…nothing would stand in his way.

“Born in ‘95 I was destined for greatness…”

A multi-sport athlete, Connor excelled in Lacrosse, Basketball, Football and made many friends along the way. He has represented Nova Scotia on a National level and was a beast when it came to his character in any game. In 2009, while away at Nationals, Connor picked up the title of the Reebok Stick Trick Challenge Champion showing off his years of Lacrosse ball handling skills in front of some of Canada’s best lacrosse players. Although his body was more in line with a basketball player (tall and lanky) he hit like a tank and had the heart of a lion. He was the kind of teammate anyone would love to have on their line / team because you could always count on him to have your back no matter how big the task you put in front of him. His fearless, lion-like characteristics allowed him to hold down a bouncer job at “The Lower Deck” a popular East Coast venue in downtown Halifax for a couple years where he made many friends and you could always see him smiling and interacting with locals and tourists alike. His most recent job however, was a job at “By Design” where he would find an interest in graphics, apparel, marketing materials etc. which would ultimately help him build the face and image for his music label, Moore Real Music.

It was a similar passion to that which he used to compete hard in sports and be fearless that was also the driving force behind his Music. With limited resources he built a name for himself on the local hip-hop scene and has collaborated with well known artists from the East Coast including an opening act for Elijah Will in which Classified recruited him for the show. Connor has also had the chance to perform in front of Cash Money Rich Gang, AnR, Mic Tee and Talent Scout Chuck Ice along wit the chance to work with many artist’s and DJ’s throughout the Maritimes, such as DJ TrixXx, DJ IV, Critty Gets Lifted, Corey Writes, Mac Malicious, Baseline, Jody Upshaw, Panda Gang, his Uncle Jon Cyr and many others.

Just after Connor’s 22nd birthday, he released his debut album “Dear World, This is Me” selling over a hundred hard-copies in a little less then a month, without the album being released online. Music became the main outlet for his anger and depression and he would collaborate with anyone who had the same passions. He created a “VLOG” on YouTube where he and others would film their struggles to make and sell their music and eventually took to the streets to perform with a small ghetto blaster outside of the public library in Halifax. Mark Walker aka EPDMC had spent some time with Connor during the VLOGs and recalls how much of an impact meeting Connor was to him on his Memorial song featured on this CD and also available via YouTube in video form. EPDMC is also a reputable Hip-Hop
artist living in the Dartmouth area who is well on his way to making a name for himself. Unfortunately, for Connor, a path to drugs and a few bad decisions pulled him away from his only source of therapy he knew and eventually he was overcome by his mental health issues and on Christmas morning 2018 he left us suddenly.

On Dec 25th, 2018, the Star went out far too soon and was greeted by his dog “Red” and later joined by his other dog “Oliver” who were with him throughout all of his struggles. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and especially his two little brothers Carter & Cooper who looked up to him and idolized him! Because of the legacy he has left, within our hearts and also in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him, his voice and music will keep us connected to him forever.
